PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 28 /U.S. Newswire/ --In response to a protest by The David S. Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies, Teen People magazine, which is owned by Time Inc., has removed from its web site an article that whitewashed a neo-Nazi teenage singing duo.
"It was irresponsible for Teen People to post an article describing these neo-Nazis as 'white separatists' without ever acknowledging that they are racists, admirers of Hitler, and Holocaust-deniers," said Dr. Rafael Medoff, director of the Wyman Institute. "Time Inc has done the right thing by removing the offensive article from the Teen People web site."
The controversy began when Teen People announced that its upcoming February 2006 issue would include a feature story on "Prussian Blue," the 13 year-old twin sisters Lynx and Lamb Gaede. But the announcement described the twins' beliefs only as "white pride" and did not mention that they wear Hitler t-shirts, deny the Holocaust, and frequently perform at neo-Nazi events. According to media reports, Teen People promised the twins it would refrain from using the words "hate," "supremacist," and "Nazi" in the article. In response to public protests, Time Inc., which publishes Teen People, announced that the upcoming story has been canceled.
But the Wyman Institute discovered that Teen People's web site was continuing to run a second sanitized story about the Gaede twins, which described their beliefs only as "white separatism" and did not explain that they are neo-Nazis and Holocaust-deniers.
In response to the Wyman Institute's protests, Time Inc has now removed the second story from the Teen People web site.
Dr. Medoff said: "During the 1930s, too many in the news media failed to report accurately on the violent and racist nature of Adolf Hitler and his followers. We dare not repeat that tragic mistake. It is particularly important that publications which appeal to young people, such as Teen People, report fully and accurately on groups like Prussian Blue, which are poisoning the minds of America's youth with their racist hate."

(CBS) NEW YORK On the website for Prussian Blue, featuring lead singers Lynx and Lamb Gaede, you'll find 13 year old twins from Southern California wearing t-shirts emblazened with smiley Hitler faces. They're often quoted as saying the holocaust wasn't as a big deal as it is made out to be.
Some of their song lyrics bemoan what a tough time whites are having these days. On the sidewalk outside the Time Life building in Manhattan we found State Assemblyman Dov Hikind who had assembled a rainbow coalition of state and city legislators, some holocaust survivors, and a Muslim Pakistan community leader, all there to decry Teen People Magazine's plan to include the blond, blue-eyed twins in a February article on race and racism. Hikind called the girls and their parents Neo Nazis and demanded that the magizine reconsider it's plan to feature the Gaede girls.
For its part, Teen-People said in a statement, "In the fight against racism, thorough reporting is one of the most effectrive ways to educate readers and combat hate." We did note that Teen-People's web promotional copy for the article described the girls in tamer terms, having a message of "white pride", than the t-shirts with the smiley Hitler faces would imply.
Said Asghar Choudri, of the Pakistani-American Federation of New York, "I am thinking that if we don't speak out now there is nobody will be left to speak out later." Our attempts to reach a spokesperson for the Gaede twins were not successful.

A group representing the descendants of Chinese Canadians who were forced to pay the head tax is launching legal action to block government funding meant to raise awareness of the issue.
Thousands of families want compensation from the federal government for the tax their ancestors were forced to pay when they came to Canada from 1885 to 1923.
It was originally $50 per person and was raised to $500 in 1903. In 1923, the head tax was replaced by the Exclusion Act, which barred Chinese immigrants from the country altogether until 1947.
Instead of paying people directly, Ottawa has just announced plans to donate $2.5 million for educational projects to commemorate those who paid the head tax.
Victor Wong of the Chinese Canadian National Council says the package doesn't help those who actually had to pay. And he says what the families really want is an apology – and compensation.
"The government has decided with this program that there will be no apology and no compensation. So they've left out the people who are directly affected."
The CCNC, which represents 4,000 head taxpayers and their families, will now seek a federal court injunction to stop the $2.5 million from being spent.
Wong says they want Ottawa to agree to compensation first, and then negotiate a fair settlement.
"It must be on a basis of respect. You can't come to us and say, 'OK, we'll look at something for you, but you must agree to our preconditions – you cannot seek an apology and you cannot seek compensation.' "
He cites this week's government announcement of a $1.9-billion compensation package for aboriginal Canadians who suffered in the residential school system – saying it shows the government has the "capacity to compensate those people who were directly affected."
