[b][color=blue]CHINA’S President suffered the embarrassment of being heckled for more than a minute on the White House lawn yesterday by a protester who accused him of persecution.
The arrival ceremony for Hu Jintao was interrupted by a woman from the banned Falun Gong religious movement. She began shouting from the top of a camera stand directly in front of President Bush and his guest. [/b][/color]

[b][color=purple]“President Bush, stop him from killing,” she shouted. “Stop persecuting the Falun Gong. . .President Hu, your days are numbered. No more time for China’s ruling party.” The incident occurred immediately after Mr Bush urged President Hu to allow Chinese to “speak freely”. [/b][/color]
The Chinese leader, unaccustomed to such public protests, stopped speaking briefly until Mr Bush lent over and reassured him.
In China, television screens are said to have been blanked out when the protests became audible. Falun Gong was also out in force in demonstrations across Washington yesterday. Supporters held banners proclaiming messages about victims of torture and human organ harvesting.
Iting Lin, 33, said she had travelled from Taiwan to protest against President Hu’s visit. Others had flown in from Australia, Japan, and South Korea to join American protesters.
[b][color=blue]Mounted police separated demonstrators in front of the White House from tourists, Chinese folk dancers and supporters of President Hu. [/b][/color]
Mr Bush said that the United States and China “intend to deepen our co-operation in addressing threats to global security, including the nuclear ambitions of Iran; the genocide in Darfur, Sudan; the violence unleashed by terrorists and extremists, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction...I’ll continue to discuss with President Hu the importance of respecting human rights and the freedoms of the Chinese people,” including the right to “assemble, speak freely and to worship”.
President Hu promised help to ease nuclear tensions with North Korea and Iran.
At a White House press conference, the two sought to narrow differences over trade.
Mr Hu, aware of the growing US impatience with America’s record $202 billion trade deficit with China, said: “We have taken measures and will continue to take steps to resolve the issue.”
Mr Bush praised China for attempting to strengthen the yuan, which the US regards as being undervalued.</pre>

念及大陸的同胞仍然在各勞教所、集中營慘遭活摘器官和屠殺，王文怡心情無比沉重。　
[b][color=blue]王文怡女士因為修煉法輪功，中共紐約領事館一直拒絕給她延長護照。去年5月王文怡的父親在中國突然去世，她本打算回國參加葬禮，但中領館再次拒延她的護照，致使她沒能見上父親最後一面，此情何堪！爲此，她曾經在中國駐美大使館絕食抗議，當時國際多家媒體廣泛報道此事。[/b][/color]
[b][color=purple]我們估計，在此情況下，王文怡為將法輪功受迫害的真相曝光，特別是蘇家屯活體摘除法輪功學員器官的罪證被中共轉移，罪惡被掩蓋的情況下，被迫做出了此舉。[/b][/color]

Freedom is never having to say you're sorry

The editor of a newspaper whose vocal reporter interrupted the ceremonial arrival of President Hu Jintao of China on the South Lawn of the White House this week with a protest about human rights abuses in China has apologized to Hu’s host, President Bush.
Of course, Bush too had apologized to Hu for the extraordinary outburst from the camera platform on the White House grounds, normally insulated from any of the protests that take place almost daily on the sidewalks of Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House.
Yet Stephen Gregory, editor of The Epoch Times, makes no apology for his continuing campaign against the alleged torture of members of Falun Gong, a banned religious group in China.
In an attempt to spotlight abuses inside China, his newspaper is handed out regularly on the sidewalk in front of the White House, and while he may not condone the personal protest that his assigned “reporter,” New York pathologist Wenyi Wang, carried on to the heavily guarded White House grounds, he suggested today that “the world does need to understand what might have moved a respected medical profession such as Dr. Wang to take such unconventional actions.’’
“Dr. Wang attended this event on Epoch Times press credentials,’’ he said in a statement issued early today. “However, her actions… were her own. In protesting in this manner, she did not act on behalf of The Epoch Times.
“Moreover, she had not consulted any of her Epoch Times colleagues beforehand about her staging this protest,’’ the editor maintained.” If The Epoch Times had known of her intention to use this event to protest, we would have seen that her press credentials were withdrawn. The Epoch Times apologizes to President Bush and the White House for Dr. Wang’s actions.’’
When Bush and Hu entered an hour-long private meeting in the White House, “the president expressed his regret that the incident had occurred,’’ Stephen Hadley, the president’s national security adviser, told CNN. “And President Hu Jintao was very gracious about it.’’
The White House may have made amends, and the Chinese leader may have forgiven his host, but the Chinese may not forget this outburst soon.
“Symbolism matters’’ to the Chinese government, says Derek Mitchell, a former adviser on Asian affairs at the Pentagon and now an analyst for the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies. And for all the shortage of substance that emerged from the meeting between Bush and Hu this week, the grand welcome that Bush offered was full of symbolism.
``It’s hugely embarrassing,’’ Mitchell says of the South Lawn outburst.
China ``must know that this Bush administration is good at controlling crowds for themselves,’’ Mitchell told The Associated Press. “The fact that they couldn’t control this is going to play to their worse fears and suspicions about the United States (and will exacerbate) mistrust about American intentions toward China.’’
China denies the assertions of the Falun Gong, which has accused the government of “organ harvesting.’’ The Epoch Times has reported on doctors performing organ transplants claiming that about 6,000 Falun Gong members had been held in a facility adjacent to a hospital in northeastern China, and that “thousands of these practitioners had been killed’’ in the process of having their organs removed. The newspaper also asserts that this was not an isolated incident, but rather “the tip of the iceberg.’’
While the Epoch Times continues its robust circulation on the sidewalks of Pennsylvania Avenue and Lafayette Park across the street from the White House, it’s unlikely that any “reporter’’ carrying Epoch Times credentials will clear the guard gates of the White House anytime soon.
“It’s an unfortunate incident,’’ Hadley said of the protest from the camera platform of the South Lawn. “It’s really not about freedom of speech. You know, freedom of speech is what you’re seeing in Lafayette park right now. But it was a journalist accredited to the… journalistic delegation, who decided rather than reporting news, they would make the news.’’
China, of course, is still coming to grips with the concept of freedom of speech, a concept dashed in violent fashion in Tiananmen Square in 1989.
Bush and Hu averted the formal “press availability’’ that Bush typically conducts in the East Room of the White House with visiting leaders of major foreign countries. This was by “mutual agreement’’ of the two leaders, a senior Bush administration official said. The Chinese, this official explained, are “not as comfortable with press events as we are.’’
The particular “press event’’ that played out on the sunny South Lawn of the White House this week was about as uncomfortable as they get.
Yet, following the private meeting between Bush and Hu in the White House, they did allow a small “pool’’ of reporters into the Oval Office for a couple of questions from each nation’s press. And, sure enough, a reporter for the AP asked Hu “when will China become a democracy with free elections?’’
“What do you mean by a democracy?’’ Hu said through a translator. “What I can tell you is that we always believe in China that if there is no democracy, there will be no modernization…
“In the future, we will, in the light of China’s own national conditions and the will of the Chinese people, continue to move ahead the political restructuring and to develop the socialist democracy,'' Hu said.
“And we will further expand the orderly participation of the Chinese citizens in political affairs so that the Chinese citizens will be in a better position to exercise their democratic rights in terms of democratic supervision, democratic management and democratic decision-making.’’

【星島網訊】雖然布希政府這回沒有搬出國是訪問的最高規格來接待胡錦濤，不過胡錦濤到了華盛頓之後，[b][color=blue]將會下榻在元首級的布萊爾國酒店，而白宮也會以豐盛的午餐來彌補吃不到正式國宴的胡錦濤。[/b][/color]
　　據東森新聞網報道，胡錦濤19日抵達華盛頓之後，將下榻華盛頓布萊爾國酒店，布萊爾賓館的斜對面就是白宮正門的入口，20日上午短短不到幾步路的距離就能進到白宮參加胡布會。
　　[b][color=blue]位於賓夕法尼亞大道1651號的布萊爾酒店已有182年曆史，美國政府在1988年斥資七百萬美元重新裝潢，它不是五星級飯店，外觀也毫不起眼，但卻是美國政府接待世界各國元首級貴賓的地點，江澤民、溫家寶和小泉純一郎都住過這裡。[/b][/color]
　　布萊爾酒店裏面隨便一盞吊燈或擺飾都是超過一百年的古董，具有溫馨，舒適，隱私和安全四大優點。

WENYI WANG acted rudely when she yelled and waved a banner at visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao during his White House appearance Thursday. The Secret Service was right to hustle her off the grounds. President Bush was right to apologize. But does Ms. Wang deserve to go to prison for six months? That might be the response to embarrassing and rude speech in Beijing. It shouldn't be in Washington. But yesterday the U.S. government charged Ms. Wang under a law that could bring her that sentence.
Ms. Wang, a member of the Falun Gong sect, which China suppresses, got into the media section at the White House lawn ceremony with credentials from a newspaper run by the spiritual group. According to court documents, she waved a yellow banner and shouted in Chinese: "Stop oppressing the Falun Gong," "Your time is running out," and "Anything you have done will come back to you in this lifetime." She also yelled to Mr. Bush, "Stop him from persecuting Falun Gong!"
For that, Ms. Wang has been charged under a law that makes anyone who "intimidates, coerces, threatens, or harasses a foreign official or an official guest or obstructs a foreign official in the performance of his duties" face up to six months in jail. 【人民報消息】（人民報記者唐宇4月22日報導）4月21日下午，大紀元記者王文怡在華盛頓地區法庭提出個人擔保後獲釋。部份華府法輪功學員隨後在法庭外召開新聞發佈會。[b]華府智庫、非政府組織代表及華府人權律師在新聞發佈會上，呼籲國際社會密切關注並制止中共活體摘取法輪功學員器官的罪行。幾乎所有的西方主流媒體到場報導了新聞發佈會。這是西方主流媒體第二次全鏡頭聚焦法輪功學員。

4月20日，布什和胡錦濤在白宮會面時，作為大紀元記者的王文怡在現場喊出了“停止活體摘除法輪功器官”、“法輪大法好”、“停止迫害法輪功”等字語，隨後被帶離現場。[b]王文怡的驚人行動，當時讓正聚焦布胡兩位領導人的世界記者們立即掉轉鏡頭和目光。[/b]
[b]辯護律師否認所有罪名[/b]
據大紀元記者亦平華盛頓DC報導，目前，王文怡被控企圖“恐嚇、脅迫、驚嚇或騷擾中國國家(中共政權)主席胡錦濤，當時胡錦濤正以外國官員身份出席美國政府舉行的儀式”。
[b][color=blue]王文怡的辯護律師波斯指出，王文怡被控的這些罪名，使美國憲法保障言論自由的第一修正案“憑空消失”。波斯強調，法庭宣讀文件中陳述的這些行為，不足以支持王文怡被控的罪名。波斯說：“沒有任何證據顯示王文怡曾經企圖恐嚇或騷擾中國國家(中共政權)主席胡錦濤。”[/b][/color]
波斯提交動議，請求法官撤消王文怡被控的罪名，但法官羅賓遜沒有接受波斯的請求。本案將於五月三日上午9:30重新開庭聽證。王文怡在提出個人擔保後獲釋。
[b]作為醫生我無法忍受[/b]
王文怡說，最近先後有兩個證人站出來曝光蘇家屯罪行，活體摘取法輪功學員器官。我作為醫生聽到這樣的消息覺得無法忍受，醫生本來應該救人。她同時表示，她的行為完全屬於其個人行為，完全取決於其個人想法。
大紀元當天發表聲明中說，“通常情況下這種做法超出了大紀元所遵循的專業記者的行為，大紀元對發生此事表示遺憾。”
負責簽發參加白宮活動媒體記者證的國家安全委員會的一名發言人在接受華盛頓郵報採訪時說，大紀元是一個合法的新聞機構，大紀元記者以前多次報導白宮的活動。
弗雷德里克-瓊斯說，“他們一直表現專業，我們沒有理由不允許他們進入。”
除王文怡外，大紀元駐華盛頓的攝影記者麗莎也參加了4月20日的白宮活動。
[b]王文怡事件離不開法輪功受迫害大背景[/b]
法庭外的新聞發佈會由美國華盛頓人權律師泰瑞-瑪甚博士主持。瑪甚說，“談到王文怡博士和今天發生的事情，如果離開了在中國發生的迫害法輪功，離開了普遍發生的從法輪功學員身上活體摘取器官，並將他們投入焚屍爐；就好像談到馬丁路德金，而不談到人權運動；就好像談到甘地，而不談到非暴力不合作運動。就好像談到露絲帕克，而不解釋種族隔離。”
瑪甚律師請所有到場的人士，把這個事件放入一個更大的背景中，那就是在中國發生著的對修煉“真善忍”的法輪功學員的迫害和虐殺。
瑪甚律師說，從目前已經收集到的大量直接證據來看，“那些和平、善良、富有同情心的人們，在全中國的勞教所、醫院被殘忍的殺害。在他們還活著的時候，他們的器官被取出，並被高價販賣。”
瑪甚律師說，王文怡博士是這方面的專家，作為一名醫生，她曾發誓要挽救生命，而中國的醫生不是在挽救生命，反而在謀害生命。瑪甚再次請求大家把王女士的行為放到這個大的背景之中。
[b]法輪功學員遭遇世上最慘烈的迫害[/b]
華盛頓哈得遜學院民事司法改革和國際宗教自由研究項目主任麥克□豪爾維茲在新聞發佈會上說，“我這裡有一些網址，有英文的，日文的。上面寫著，你要幾千個器官，儘管來吧，我們這裡有。這就是法輪功學員所面臨的迫害。
我們這些局外人最終會瞭解，他們是世界上受迫害最嚴重的人們。我們有理由相信，那些迫害的集團最害怕不懼怕它們的人。”
[b]呼籲全面調查中國勞教所[/b]
世界人權執行主任蒂姆-庫泊接受採訪時說，“毫無疑問，美國政府需要深入調查中國勞教所、集中營摘取法輪功學員器官的罪行指控。中共在被指控三個星期以後，才首次宣佈允許國際社會去調查。這種轉移被關押者、並銷毀證據的行為暗示我們，需要深入中國所有勞教所調查這些問題。”
庫泊呼籲美國政府和聯合國酷刑組織到中國所有的勞教所進行充分的深入調查取證，並希望對中共的反人類罪行提出控訴。
[b]為媒體沉默感到悲哀[/b]
來自澳洲的一位法輪功學員因為堅持修煉法輪功曾在中國被非法關押迫害，關押期間，她曾經被威脅說，如果她不放棄，就把她送到東北的一個地方去關押，永遠都不可能再回來了。
她在法庭聽證會後接受採訪時說，作為法輪功學員，我非常理解王文怡為甚麼這樣做，這場迫害已經持續七年了。同時我也為媒體感到悲哀，當證人披露活體摘取法輪功學員器官，這是人類歷史上從未有過的暴行，媒體、政府還保持沉默。直到作為記者的王文怡用這種“出格”的方式，所有的記者才把鏡頭對準了法輪功學員。這本身就是一種諷刺。
她說，有的記者說，這場迫害已經持續七年了，法輪功每天都遭受迫害、迫害、迫害，已經沒有新聞價值了。可是每一個被迫害致死的都是一個鮮活的生命。作為媒體、作為政府官員，問一問自己的良心。
