A little web site created in Hamilton, www.boycottgas.ca, by Ron and Wanda Hollis earlier this month is cooking with gas and gaining momentum from consumers peeved with the rising price of petrol. "Just this morning we've had over 18,000 (computer hits) who've been to the site," Wanda said. "We started it in the first week of March." On March 28 at 9 a.m. Wanda and her husband, Ron, who own a used car dealership in Hamilton, will be holding their boycott lottery. They'll pull a gas company's name from a hat and ask drivers to boycott that company for a month. What pushed them to launch their on-line protest after a fire at Imperial Oil's Nanticoke refinery on Feb. 15. Imperial said gasoline production was crippled, causing a quarter of Southern Ontario's 400 Esso stations to dry up. But other companies also raised their prices. "We just came back from Florida and saw the price was close to $2 a gallon. Close to 60 cents a litre. So why is there so much of a difference?" She was surprised by the number of e-mails -- 500 -- from readers that overloaded their web site within three days of its launch by her sons -- Brendan, 18, and Ryan, 14. For the past week or so gas prices in the GTA, according to www.torontogasprices.com, have hovered around $1.04.9 a litre but started to drop around the city yesterday to 99.9 cents.
